Kingswood

Everyone has arrived safely and all are eager to get on with their first activity.  The group haven’t taken any photos yet but as soon as they do we will start posting them.  We wish everyone at Kingswood a relaxing evening and a good night’s sleep - they’re going to need it!!!!!!!

Day One

The children had a wonderful first night, they sang songs around the campfire and had a tasty hot chocolate and marshmallows before bedtime.

They all slept really well and were eager to get up this morning for a fun day of activities!

Everyone has had a filling breakfast of pancakes, bacon, scrambled egg and maple syrup and are ready for the day ahead.

They have even had time for an early morning game of football.

Day Two

Your children are starting to really make themselves at home, as you can see from the picture of one of the bedroom doors!

They have all had a wonderful night's sleep after a very busy day! It was a struggle to wake some of the children up this morning and ready in time for breakfast which is at 7:45. However, everybody made it and we are all refueled, ready for another fun filled day!

Yesterday, every single child had a go on the 3G swing... They were all so brave, you should be very proud of them. As you can see from the photo, the swing is no ordinary swing, it reaches a great height!

The day concluded with mini Olympics, which the children loved... They competed in 3 teams to carry out events such as tug-o-war, discus throwing and relay races. The event finished with a closing ceremony and gold medals were awarded to the winning team.

We can't believe we are nearly half way!

Day Three

The children have had another wonderful night's sleep, some children even had a bit of a lay in this morning and didn't get up until 7:20am. Hurriedly, we all made our way to the dining room and arrived just in time for our 7:45 breakfast. A delicious breakfast of warm pan au chocolat, croissants, cheese and ham was waiting for us!

Yesterday, was very exciting... Some groups had a go on aerial runway, which is a huge zip wire. This needed a lot of courage, which your children showed they had bags of!!

Other groups had a go on the quad bikes, many children were able to skilfully navigate the circuit - not an easy task. Whilst the final group competed at indoor lazer. This involved a lot of ducking, diving and rolling in order to avoid becoming a target from the lazer guns.

The children all had to help solve a crime that had taken place at Kingswood. (A fictional one of course!) As part of CSI Kingswood the children had to analyse fibres and soil samples found at the scene of the crime. They also had to look for fingerprints and match footprints, all of which they did brilliantly - as you can see in the photos.

The day concluded with popcorn and a movie. The film of choice was "The Game Plan" which the children really enjoyed.

Tonight is going to be a lot of fun, it's disco night!! We will make sure we send some pictures of the children dressed up in their finest disco clothes.

The children are really looking forward to seeing you tomorrow so that they can tell you all about their fabulous week at Kingswood.

Day 3a Day 3b
Day 3c Day 3d

Day Four

The last full day at Kingswood really challenged the children's ability to work as part of a team. Which they all proved they can do! The nightline activity required the children to guide each other around an assault course, made difficult by the fact that the children were blindfolded. It was a very challenging and muddy activity, but a lot if fun.

The children also worked together to conquer their fears of the abseiling tower. The children coached and cheered each other every step of the way to the top of this 30 foot tower. Each child had their own personal goal, for some it was to climb the stairs to the top, for others it was to stand at the top and look down. For a lot of courageous children, it was to abseil down to the bottom. All of the children gave this tower their best shot.

The day finished with the Kingswood disco. The children showered and changed into their best clothes in record time! Everyone enjoyed the disco, the dance floor was full all night.

Our bags and suitcases are packed, the children are really looking forward to seeing their families after a week apart. There are just two more activities left to do - fencing and leap of faith!

Day 4 Day 4b
Day 4c Day 4d

Final Day

This morning the children have been challenged beyond their limits with the leap of faith. Every child gave it a go, some even managed to take the courageous leap from the platform and grab the swing bar!

We have had another delicious lunch, ready for the journey home.

We said a huge thank you to our group leader Natasha. She has looked after the children so well this week and encouraged them to give everything a go!

The children are very excited to see their families, we should see you very soon.
