What is Early Help/Family Support?

Early help, also known as early intervention, is support given to a family when a problem first emerges. It can be provided at any stage in a child or young person's life.

for more information please go to the NSPCC guide on Early Help

Parenting Support with Anxiety and Behaviour

Merton's Children and Young People's Wellbeing Service are here to help with signs of anxiety or worry.  They can also support with challenging behaviour at home.

This is a self referral programme and is open to all Merton Parents.  They work with the parent directly: We aim to give the parents strategies and tools to help them support their child, and to feel more confident in responding to their child’s behaviour.

The program consists of up to 8 weekly sessions with the parent. We are offering virtual sessions currently, due to COVID-19..

If you are interested in our service over the summer please email InfoMertonWP@swlstg.nhs.uk

Leaflets and Self Referral form below.

Uniform Help from Wimbledon Guild

If you need support in buying a school uniform and you are a Merton resident. Please contact us for an application to obtain a Wimbledon Guild Small Grant.  Please be aware - your application may not be approved.

Small grants are used to pay for things such as household appliances, school educational trips, furniture, clothing and school uniforms. The team aims to make a decision on applications within two weeks provided all relevant paperwork is supplied by the applicant.

Support for single parents

To get there, Gingerbread provide information to help single parents support themselves and their family. They run programmes to equip single parents with the skills and opportunities to gain employment. And Gingerbread campaign and influence policy to reduce stigma against single parents, and make services more accessible to all families – whatever their shape or size.
